This book is compiled by a seaman for seamen to be of use afloat and ashore in conversation with those who speak "Bazaar bat", to this end the words are written as they are actually spoken by the natives, and just so much grammar as they usually observe is included. This book is to help the ship's officer, and is not intended to be a complete work on Hindustani, but it will be found a real help in picking up that part of the language which is of practical use to them in their everyday contact with the native.
